Every time we're at Sam's Club, we love browsing the club store bakery to see what's new and stock up on sweet treats for the week—or our next get-together. It’s not a party without a tray of Sam’s Club cookies or brownies, after all.
While Sam’s bakery has dozens of fan-loved desserts available year-round—like the award-winning apple pie and extra-large cookie cake—the limited-time offerings it sells during the holidays and different seasons tend to stir up the most excitement.
Spring arrivals are popping up at clubs now, with the return of favorites like the Spring Cutout Cookies and Carrot Cake. And recently, Instagram user @samsclubfoodreview spotted another returning dessert that fans enjoy every year—one that looks just like one of Ina Garten’s most famous treats. That's right, Sam’s Member's Mark 10" Round Coconut Cake is back for another season.
Sam's Club Brought Its Coconut Cake Back
Sam’s more-than-3.5-pound Coconut Cake is a layered white cake with coconut crème filling, whipped cream, and coconut flakes. It makes its return to the bakery section yearly around springtime and Easter—and it’s quite the showstopper.
The 10-inch cake features three layers of moist cake held together with a coconut crème filling. It’s covered in a light whipped cream and topped with flaked coconut for the ultimate spring cake.
Fans wait for the cake to return every year, calling it "next-level delicious" and mentioning the "pretty" exterior that makes for the perfect dessert table centerpiece at your Easter or spring brunch.
"The cake itself is wonderfully light and airy, almost like angel food cake but softer and more delicate. The icing is smooth, rich, and pleasantly sweet, but the coconut flavor remains on the lighter side," @samsclubfoodreview wrote in a post.
The limited-time Coconut Cake is back on shelves now, ringing up at $17.98 for the cake, which serves 21 people.
While it’s not an exact dupe for Garten’s iconic Coconut Cake, which features four layers of cake and cream cheese frosting, it’s certainly a cheaper option. The Barefoot Contessa sells her six- and eight-inch cakes on Goldbelly for $100+. So, if you’re looking for a similar flavor without spending a pretty penny or having to recreate Garten’s recipe at home, the Sam’s Club Coconut Cake is the way to go.
At less than $20—and with more than triple the serving size—you could buy one of Sam’s Coconut Cakes, eat it, and still have time to buy another before Easter, all without spending the same amount of money as Garten’s cake or waiting for it to ship via Goldbelly. Now, that’s the kind of store-bought we think is just fine.
