    This is a thread to post complaints/observations/supportive cheerleading and helpful info.

    Seems to me there are several of us following keto, for example, and yesterday I was introduced to chia seeds as a potential dessert. Yes, the very same seeds as chia pets! :lurking:

    Put a couple tablespoons in a bowl, add the sweetener of your choice, pour cream over top and let them sit for 20 minutes or so in the fridge. Top with fresh berries and stir, OMG SO GOOD. Kinda like tapioca, but not as thick, plus a nutty flavour. Yum!

    So c'mon, tell me what your workouts look like. What's your fave lunch recipe? Commiserate with me, and complain about how miserable keto is as far as food choices are concerned. :laugh:

      Everything I’ve read says honey isn’t okay. Hmmm I’ll have to do some more reading. I use honey in a lot of my cooking usually, stuff I get from a local apiary.

    The chia seeds dessert sounds really good! I'm going to be trying it.

    I am not on any specific diet, but my gym trainer has me on an eating plan where I have to eat a specific combination of protein and complex carbs before a workout. I will enjoy this thread a lot I think, and can't wait to share some tips.

      It's an hour of circuits made up of three different exercises in rotation with each having a set number of reps (usually 10), for three full rotations with a 30 second break between sets. They are all designed for a particular muscle group. Yesterday we did thighs and abs. Tomorrow will probably be glutes and arms.

    I would cut all sugar out. Soda and juice even. Anything processed or in a package. And doing (OMAD) only one meal a day. That has worked great for me and the wife. And exercise lol.

      Are you deliberately using intermittent fasting? I hear that's pretty effective, too. It feels like something I could incorporate; I only eat 2 meals a day, usually, anyway.

      Yes.. Went 3 days at the beginning of the week. Yup sensible meals will suffice even if you eat 2 times a day. Was gonna do an egg fast but... We don't like eggs THAT much Haha.

      I blew through like 18 eggs in a week my first month, but holy shit you can only eat so many eggs. Now I just pretty much use them in recipes.

    when he needs to lose weight, he follows this plan;

    eat less, move more

    when he needs to gain weight, he follows this plan;

    eat more, move less

    So far it's working out just fine.

    This sounds like a good thread my diet right now is a wreck and tends to be what ever is easy to make.

    As for exercise I do do that a lot riding my bike at lest 3 times a week and another fourm of exercise I been doing since I was young in tai chi.

    I know hot yoga is all the rage now but if any one wants to give tai chi a try I enjoy it there's lot of free classes on the net.

      It really helps with joints building up the muscle around the joints. I started doing it as a kid when I was doing Akido judo and kendo long since stopes them but still do tai chi. It's the only thing that works to keep the Pain away in my legs.

    I refuse to eat anything that is processed, packaged, or manufactured. If it is not fresh and bought that day I do not eat it, the few places I will eat are all farm to table, the places I ate in Houston were all slow-food. It is all organic. I also refuse to put any sugar that is not naturally in the fruit or vegetable into my body.
    For exercise I have a beach to run on, a bay to take out the kayak, and we have one of those all in one machines at home. That and on nice warn days I walk to the market for groceries.

    I do keto as well. My problem is that I can lose ten pounds without batting an eye, but then I kind of get stuck there. The other problem I have is that I get bored with the food. I love meat and eggs, but after awhile nothing sounds better than a damn taco, some rice, or Ramen noodles. I was never much of a dessert or sweets person so that's not an issue.

      I hope that you are not meaning me because while some have the issue of wanting to lose weight some of us have an issue with wanting to gain weight. Most adults do not have to buy pants in the boys sections because they cannot gain. I eat better foods than most because we had to grow our own, not because we had that as an option. Yes fresher foods, not eating processed foods, and being active do help, but a large part of it is training your brain. The wife has an issue with weight because of the hormones and I had to break her of the idea that the biggest portion in a meal has to be meat, I now have her eating a 20% diet like I do. 20% of the meal is the meat for protein, then 3 veggies each of 20% for 60%, and a dessert that is 20% to total the full meal and she is maintaining her weight with the help of walking 2 miles per day and kayaking with me on weekends.

    I’ve always been a firm believer in diet and working out. I fancy diets or powders or pills. Just limiting your calorie intake and drinking lots of waters, that and smaller but more frequent meals will help your metabolism. Thus leaving you healthier

    Calories ingested > calories burned = gaining weight

      That's the formula all right. You have to take in less than what you burn. Also, if you work out, it was recommended you do weights before exercise. I was told that the body continues to burn calories better that way in lieu of cardio first.

      Also medication may play a part in weight gain. My Dr. put me on a pill for my prostate and I gained almost 25#. I couldn't get enough to eat and of course it was all junk food.
