A man who was “climbing with his family and friends” on Sunday in Boulder, Colo., fell about 20 feet and died, authorities said.
The victim was identified on Monday, March 24, by the Boulder County coroner as 46-year-old Marc Horan.
Horan was killed at the Riviera climbing area, according to local news reports.
Officials were first notified about the incident around 3:15 p.m. local time on Sunday, March 23, when they received 911 texts about Horan’s injuries.
Though CPR was performed, Horan “was found unresponsive after what appeared to be a fall from 20 feet and died from his injuries,” Boulder County officials said in a statement.

Further details about Horan’s death were not immediately available from local authorities, though a GoFundMe to help with his funeral expenses described him as “a doting son, a loving partner, and the most caring person to have in your corner.”
According to the fundraiser, which has raised more than $3,900, Horan “slipped off a boulder” during a climb.
